TLDR; Disney’s seeming lack of embracing of their animation history appears to be an overcorrection regarding trying to "fix a brand image", by saying "Disney isn’t just for kids", but by doing so they perpetuate a lot of harmful stigmas related to animation.

The live action remake canon is sort of Disney talking out of both sides of their mouth, because they can simultaneously appeal to nostalgic audiences whilst also saying that it’s now "ok" to watch these movies because "they’re no longer dinky kids cartoons", that they’re now "mature".

Look at how often they predominantly market their animated canon films and/or Pixar to kids, whilst stuff like Marvel or Star Wars is allowed to be marketed more as "all ages/family content", and that customers are supposed to "graduate" from the animated stuff.

Disney I feel is ABSOLUTELY drinking the "animation is for kids" stigma koolaid, and I think it’s because they think it could "improve their brand image" with a false sense of "diversity of content" (re. the fact they seemingly own everything).

I have an odd feeling that the Disney of today may be slightly "ashamed" of that legacy because they’re really trying to hammer home the whole "look Disney isn’t just for kids" thing by focusing less on animated works and more on live action stuff they acquired or remade because that’s "mature".

Absolutely not, do what feels most comfortable for you. I think this is healthy, I’m mostly speaking of myself.

I’m here for you my friend, thank you for expressing how you feel.

I’m sorry about that Aubrey, I know how you feel.

Kinda been having a rough week myself too, but that’s a bit TMI.

Hope things get better *hugs*
