Zuck and AI talent right now.

Didn't have Apple making the mouse pointer to click links (the hand) be like the Windows pointer in 2025 in my bingo. #apple #wwdc

Serif fonts are making their way back into digital design. This is buoyed by the default font on substack (Spectral) and a lot of indie web never let good font choices or design ever leave. It's also starting its path into mobile design. Stand out examples in m3 design.

Hmm app idea for iOS: an app that shatters your screen like those windscreen decals #ios

Between this image and the previous rainbow, it's now getting pretty clear what the new design visual style is going to look like. The frosted glass is going to take on the color of the extremities and likely things "under" and "above" it.

It's fascinating to me that Chrome Settings is vertical tabs. Yet, there is no native vertical tab support inside Chrome :)

What’s this new silent addition to location permissions you’ve defaulted to “on” apple?

The iPhone 17 Air looks a lot like the Nexus 6p, even more than a pixel IMHO. #iphone #nexus6p #android

These days, my favorite dopamine hit is to vibe code my own local chrome extensions to do simple things. This one is to get a specific archive of the current url. #chrome #web

Certainly works on stable for me. Here are my flags and relaunch 2x. Once done, you still have to go into settings and turn on bottom toolbar.

Seriously, wtf Whatsapp. Why are you introducing dark patterns into search just to get people using Meta AI. #sigh #whatsapp

mac os + chrome consumes about 5GB of memory. i wonder if a portable linux might be friendlier to resources. will dig into what might be some good options if it also needs persistence. I remember going down this rabbit hole a couple years ago and ended up being frustrated.

One more suggestion for chrome bottom toolbar would be to reverse the order of the hamburger menu. Right now, the "follow" button is the most accessible when it really should be the "new tab" button.

Looks like suddenly everyone is trying to recreate office productivty apps again. It kinda makes sense given that there might be some thesis around AI being an inflection point. That said amongst companies that I trust to make this happen, @figma.com is the one I am keeping an eye on.

My favorite wrapped for 2024. First year I religiously tracked my food intake as a part of improving health.

Weight on Dec 26, 2023: 186lbs
Weight on Dec 18. 2024: 126lbs

Lost 60lbs and have a better understanding of protein as a vegetarian (protein shakes are magic). Thanks @foodnoms.com

AI continues to be built for the web even when you have deep platform access.

https://gemini.google.com has access to 2.0 while the app still doesn't.

Nice to see Godwin's law is alive and well when it comes to the AI scaling and safety discussions too.
