"To initiate a war of aggression, therefore, is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole."

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

Counterpoint:

The Supreme Court lacks the authority to change the text of the Constitution.

So either it affirms the text or (further, and more completely) nukes its authority as Constitutional arbiter.

There’s no third option. Art III (courts) can’t just usurp Art V (amendments).

I had no idea this demon was from 2005. It's literally the War on Terror surveillance state injected into Christmas.

Cultural historians: this ones a freebie if nobody's taken it yet.

When I worked in assisted living, sometimes you'd get people who seemed like their usual selves at dinner and were found dead the next morning. I think about that a lot. It really gives you something to think about. Lot's to ponder.
Trump, continued: "What the Somalian people have done to Minnesota is not even believable. It’s not even believable. And a lot of it starts with the governor. A lot of it starts with Barack HUSSEIN Obama, because that’s when people started coming in... They want to kiss our country good night."

Past me (an idiot) really was certain that drafting an introduction was going to be the easy part.

Anyway, word count achieved.

Every once in a while, someone on here asks "what's your most conservative opinion?" I think I can confidently say that mine is that people need to grow the fuck up.
Because you're an adult you fucking muppet. You gotta pay the magic forward.

On the one hand, I'm glad we avoid the sudden scramble for her seat. On the other hand, I really need someone not-yet-eligible for Social Security to squish Moulton like a bug.
Pressley won’t challenge Markey, will run for re-election - The Boston Globe
Nationally known and well-liked among progressives, Representative Pressley was seen as a strong contender for the Senate seat, but told The Globe it wasn't the right time.

Extra time on tests is only a problem if you're trying to test the speed at which students take tests. Demonstrating your mastery of material has basically no relationship to how quickly you can do it.
"Rich kids are gaming disability accommodations to gain an unfair advantage" is actually very different from "America has an extra-time-on-tests problem" — and the author hasn't proved that either! Rich kids might just be more likely to be diagnosed.

Increasingly convinced that freedom of movement and ease of attaining citizenship in one’s chosen country is the great social reform of our time, and once achieved it will have enormously far-reaching effects, mostly positive, on a par with the eight hour day and maybe even the abolition of slavery.

This is almost word for word what xenophobes in the 1930s and 1940s said about Miller's Jewish ancestors and relatives. He's so hateful he couldn't possibly recognize that of course.
Stephen Miller is now arguing that assimilation is fundamentally impossible and that certain cultures are not compatible with Western civilization

Rogue One is a good idea fed into a wood chipper. The mostly solid final act is just the chunk that got jammed in the machinery.
if your view of rogue one is that it is a "well-acted and well-written action flick" then i'm just going to assume you've never seen a movie before
