The DOJ just filed lawsuits against 6 states demanding access to voters’ sensitive personal data like addresses, driver’s license numbers, and Social Security info.

This is nothing more than a dangerous abuse of power designed to undermine trust in our elections.

On #NationalVoterRegistrationDay, I wrote for @time.com about the surge in state-level attacks on voting: 160+ anti-voter bills were introduced this year alone.

These copycat bills aren’t isolated, they build on federal efforts to silence eligible voters.

The Trump admin is setting the stage for election interference at an unprecedented scale.

These actions lay the groundwork to make voting harder & baselessly undermine election results. Our job is to fight back, support election officials, & protect voters every chance we get.

Our democratically-run election system is one of the things that keeps American elections safe.

Federal laws, passed by Congress, are the appropriate way for the federal gov. to impact voting policy – not oversteps that threaten access for eligible voters.

Here are the facts: voting machines undergo extensive testing before each election to guarantee reliability and accuracy, and eliminating mail-in voting would strip away a reliable and safe method that millions rely on.

Trump says he will ‘lead a movement’ to eliminate mail-in voting
The Constitution gives states the authority to regulate how elections are run, making it unlikely Trump can change voting rules unilaterally.

"Once the govt. crosses the line into sweeping, unexplained grabs for voter data and more, it’s hard to walk it back. If states cave to these requests without demanding a clear legal foundation, they are inviting future administrations to make more such requests." www.votebeat.org/2025/08/11/j...
Why the Justice Department’s requests for voter rolls should raise alarm
The government is obligated by law to explain how it plans to use the information it collects. But the Trump administration hasn’t provided many details.

This ruling upholds a core principle of our democracy: the will of voters cannot be delayed or denied. There’s no place for partisan interference in our elections.

✅ Big win for voters.

A federal judge blocked a harmful provision in a recent executive order that would’ve forced people to show proof of citizenship—like a passport—just to register to vote.

The Constitution is clear: states run elections, not the president.
