Wow -- someone teaching in a relevant field who literally believes this stuff?! See, this is what I mean, it's so hard to fathom and yet these people exist

OK, I just thought you had something specific you wanted to do. There's not necessarily tons of money lying around for 2026 -- big projects get planned years in advance -- but small things can still happen. Nice to think you're interested.

What (in theory) should the hypothetical museum invite you to do? Like, give a talk, or...?

These are the ones where I wonder if it's some sort of deliberate propaganda somehow. The whole "daring to defeat Hillary" line just sounds so canned. I mean, look, whether or not I am sad he won an election, he still sexually assaulted E. Jean Carroll in a closet and that's... not great?

there's got to be some spectrum from true believer to true cynic, I think? I mean, it helps preserve some shreds of hope to believe this

"anti-fascists in Weimar Germany were definitely the bad guys" -- that feeling when your dog whistle turns out to be an actual whistle

Step one before admitting that it's important is just admitting that it's true. And that's what is so chilling: his followers believe the lies deeply, thoroughly, and consistently. It's hard to fathom. Like, this is flat-earth levels of delusion

but Hunter Biden had a foreign job and a laptop at one point so it's all the same or something something, right? 🤔🙄

I find it so staggering that there aren't, you know, at least a dozen powerful Republicans either in Congress or on SCOTUS who are like, "no let's not go with the dictatorship option"

It's just like staring into an abyss; I know it's an abyss and yet I also just keep trying to see a bottom somewhere
hansklocker.bsky.social
How are there no GOP Senators willing to stand up against this? Are they seriously ALL true believers

An acquaintance is distraught because ICE has been arresting parents at their grandson's school drop-off. In Chicago. Just rounding up moms and dads. And it's not even in the news because it's only one of a thousand tiny fires all over the place, in the city of broad shoulders, a place we love 💔

the use of "we do not" is depressingly similar to how we talk to toddlers
hansklocker.bsky.social
Yeah. I asked him to define a line and he said (flippantly) something like, when we're all in jail. But honestly, if I were in Chicago right now there's every possibility I would be in jail (I am a target demographic), soooo, hmm

I'm with you. From reading his posts, I think the answer is something like "competitive authoritarianism, with one party currently under fascist leadership," and it's important to him because if it were actual fascism it's game over, whereas we still have an ability to vote them out. But...do we?

I'd be curious to know your Rubicon, so to speak

this is not how I imagined the reboot of Band of Brothers
hansklocker.bsky.social
ah, but some laws are merely "enshrined traditions" 🙄

Kash preparing statement rn: "most definitely antifa"

Putting this here for comparison...I think it's just distorted by perspective, no?

Isn't it just Trump Tower, but at a weird angle?
hansklocker.bsky.social
So basically, all humans are equal, but Trump and his minions are more equal than others

Note that MAGA is very very concerned about "the children" and yet doesn't care AT ALL if the children are brown/poor/undocumented

It's also weird electoral college thinking, right? I mean, blue states have lots of red House districts, and vice versa. You would think they would care about those voters, at least if they thought we would have elections next year, or if they thought voters would be well informed, SIGH
