Retired Australian. Still a hippy at heart. Proud husband, father, grandfather, and bass player.
While I'm glad Australia won the first Test of this Ashes Series, I'm not happy that it was over in less than two days.
T20 Tests are disappointing.

It's only 3:00 pm on Day 2 of the first Test, and England have already batted twice
Australia needs 204, in three days, to win.
Given the way both teams are batting this will be over by lunch tomorrow, and either team could win

An appropriately named "Splendid Tree Frog".

Splendid indeed.

I took a picture of a lion. I thought it was worth sharing.

Seen in an overgrown, vacant lot.
Why?

Dr David Livingstone "discovered" a waterfall complex known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya (the smoke that thunders) in 1855 and promptly named it as Victoria Falls after the Queen.
It is called Victoria Falls to this day.
I think Zimbabwe should return it to it's original name.

I just thought I'd share a picture I took of a five month old baby girl rhinoceros.
No reason. I just think she's cute.

Love & Mercy is what we need tonight.
RIP Brian Wilson.

I spent some very relaxing time today watching birds from the Beeliar Regional Park bird hide.

On the anniversary of the assassination of Robert F Kennedy it's heartbreaking to reflect on how his son has become a threat to the health of the USA and, potentially, the world.
RFK Snr was an inspiration. RFK Jnr is a dangerous laughing stock.

The West Australian continues to demonstrate its lack of fair and balanced reporting.
It's basically an LNP mouthpiece.

I've voted. I'm very appreciative of being able to vote early.
Now, I just wish I could turn off the stupid @trumpetofpatriots.bsky.social advertising. They're little more than fascism for the brain dead.

I've learned that you don't have to golf to enjoy a drink at golf clubhouses. The surrounds are usually very attractive.

On this day, in 1966, in an interview with the London Evening Standard, the Beatles' John Lennon says that his band tops Jesus Christ in popularity. Meant as a comment on religion's general decline, the quote sparks outrage.

I was on a bus recently and noticed this small sign/flap.
I wonder how you would do in an emergency if you were less than 1.8 metres tall.

It's been pointed out that if you put a series of dots on Trump's signature it looks like a gathering of the KKK.
Very clever, and quite accurate.

I'm at the WACA in a crowd of 10s watching one of the last matches of the season.
WA vs SA Women's One Day Cricket.
I'm very disappointed Alana King isn't playing.

I'm obsessed with this album at the moment.
Whilst the theme is grim, and some lyrics are banal, the musicianship is phenomenonal.
Jack Bruce, Tony Levin, Aynsley Dunbar, Steve Hunter, Steve Winwood, Randy & Michael Brecker, and on and on.
I can't get enough.

What I think of every time I hear some idiotic criticism of my choice to buy an electric car. I hasten to add that it isn't a swasticar.

Today's the 61st Anniversary of The Beatles' first appearance on The Ed Sullivan show.
I suppose I'm proud to say I watched this at the time.
