@malcolmbfoley.bsky.social I listened to your interviews recently on the Holy Post and Voxology, and I can't wait to grab your book!! I was talking to a buddy of mine and he questions if racism exists today. Do you know any good resources I can point him to or educate myself with on this?

Christian Nationalists are more concerned with preserving their earthly power than embodying Jesus' Kingdom power. Selfishness vs selflessness.

The Bible is written for us, but it is not written to us. Coming to the Bible with the wrong assumptions is dangerous.

As if the incarnation itself is not mind-bending enough, the incarnate God spent his days quietly, a man who went to work, got sleepy, and lived a pedestrian life among average people.

Christian nationalism contradicts itself in America. It says, "let's make sure Christians have all the power", all while ignoring that this idea is what the founding founders were trying to avoid. It didn't work for centuries in Europe and it won't work here. But the thirst for power is blinding.

If your political views cause you to love your neighbor less, maybe you need to surrender them to Jesus

Some people think honor/shame culture does not exist in the US. In reality, it does...it just looks different. You can see it present around the military, sports, the deep South, political allegiances, and even certain identity groups.

Politics is not a zero sum game. We can all flourish together. And that's what God's people are meant to pursue.

The idea that "Jesus wasn't political" is dead wrong. The state considered him a threat as the "king of the Jews". You don't get more political than that.

Them: "America is God's nation!"
Ezekiel: "Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy."

Maybe we should rethink that Defense budget a bit.

The Kingdom that Jesus brought is not partisan, but it is deeply political. Loving my neighbor and seeking their good in society is an inherently political activity.

Americans are frustrated, and for a lot of different reasons. But I think one reason is that America is super divided, and many relationships that were intact 10 years ago have been severed. And it sucks.

Everyone loves their idols, but no one likes being called out for idolatry. If you want to call out people's idols prophetically, be prepared to suffer like a prophet.

This is a FASCINATING breakdown of geographical subcultures in the US. Why different parts of the country hold different attitudes can be mapped back to the colonial cultures that settled there.
