I've seen a lot of news lately about artists authors etc lobbying for regulations around AI being trained on their work. But no-one seems to bat an eyelid about it being trained on the whole of GitHub.

It's cloud speak.

"We're a community of selfish bastards here. Everyone looks out for themselves."

That's not the story people want to hear. Sub editors know they have to write headlines that will get attention. Old fashioned click bait really.

Probably should cap it at $3m (indexed) full stop. People with balances above that level don't need help saving for their retirement.

Absolutely, and thats the basis to attack it. And the hearsay ... "a friend of Elon's friend says the hospital is getting ripped off" I mean who takes that seriously?

Look around yourself. Decay everywhere.

Not a great example - that post is a commentary on corruption rather than the street cost of bread. It can be simultaneously true that a health authority enters into a corrupt agreement and that the local cost of bread is <$1

Am I correct in thinking that the AI has to read all that before it even starts on my input?

Got to be a windup, surely

Why?

I do hope they do a better job of explaining and justifying their compromises though. Eg. on gambling ads, I am yet to hear an explanation for their timidity that satisfies me.

I think they are going to cement themselves in the centre. Albo has said he wants Labor to be the natural party of govt, which up until now has unfortunately been the Coalition.

That is for sure going to leave some people feeling let down on many issues.

Democracy requires pragmatic comprimise.

They have also spent the last decade alienating and driving out their moderates.

I don't know, the shadenfreude of watching him try to make a silk purse from a sow's ear is entertaining

Insinctive psy-ops. He tells you black is white and bullies you until you agree.

I call it instinctive because like most bullies, it is not a thought out strategy, it is instinctive behaivour.

These services are going to implode under the weight of their own greed soon anyway.

Used to be I could subscribe to maybe 2 and see most of what I wanted to. Now it feels like every half good show has it's own streaming network.

I swear they are pushing people back towards piracy.
