A tool we've used is trying to really dig and think "would they really say that/think that way/react that way?". It is a lot like training an easily frightened dog. Figuring out what is a shadow and what is right there in front of you.

This took 1 failed sketch to figure out what we wanted to attempt because the prompt inspired us. We feel we may have scrunched up dire a bit much. However, it was fun to draw and a fun little challenge.
