My friend Laura knit an Adult Small version for me. It used less than 1 skein each of Spring Toy and Night Light on Classic DK!

It does curl a bit on the side, but I absolutely love this cowl! It feels just so quintessentialy Millennial.

Modifications:
I do think my gauge was slightly off from the pattern, so I omitted a few rounds on the belly so that it would still fit. I omitted the sewn on mouth. I also sized up on the safety eyes.

Naturally, I used Good Luck on Cotton Fluff Worsted (just 1 skein, held double) and Cloud on Classic DK minis. With some stuffing, safety eyes, and a bit of green felt, I had the cutest little bear!

Something like Cascade 220 could work really nicely. Check out your local yarn shop and I'm sure they'd be happy to find you something in your budget!

It doesnt have buttons yet (shh... 🤫), but I love this knit!

Now, obviously I'd love for you to buy all the yarn from me to make your own. However, I know times are tough, so an easy way to make this sweater at a lower price point is to swap out the main color! I used DK, but you can also use worsted to get gauge.

For the main color, I used 3 skeins of Cloud on Classic DK! I did knit the body longer, because I am not a cropped-style type person and also I'm tall. 🤷🏼‍♀️

This is the Leith Caridgan by @the.creabea! I knit a size 3 (and possibly could've gotten away with a size 2?). I used 1 skein each of Harmony, Bright Heart, Thanks-a-Lot, and Wish on Silky Bouclé held the double for the contrast stripes.
