Proud to be the MP for North Shropshire and Lib Dem spokesperson for Health and Care. Promoted by North Shropshire Liberal Democrats at Flat B, The Fighting Cocks, SY11 1QE.
Without short-term help, drastic cuts are inevitable. We need urgent funding to stabilise the budget and protect vital services for #Shropshire residents. 4/4

Good to hear from residents on the doorsteps on Friday when I visited Morda with Councillor Andy Davis. I also met lovely shopkeeper Jas, who recently won an award for her work helping the local community.

It was an honour today to join the parade and service for Remembrance Sunday in Oswestry, and to lay a wreath at the war memorial. We will remember them.

Ahead of Remembrance Day, I was proud to dedicate a cross of remembrance in honour of North Shropshire personnel who lost lives while serving their country. The Gardens of Remembrance are a moving memorial in the heart of Parliament. This weekend I will be paying my respects in North Shropshire.

This week I joined colleagues from all parties in a run for #Movember and men’s health week. The planned route was 4.5k - marking the 4.5 fewer years that men live on average compared to women. It was a great event and it’s good to see men’s physical and mental health raised in Parliament.

➡️ Everybody serving should have a clean and safe home to live in.

🏠 However, accommodation for armed forces is often not good enough.

🛏️ It's good news the Government is planning to upgrade Service Family Accommodation, but urgent action is also needed to improve Single Living Accommodation.

Great to see the finished poppy cascade unveiled in Baschurch on Saturday. A huge well done to Pauline and everyone involved in creating this stunning work.

And just up the road from another beautiful display in Myddle - what a talented bunch of people we have in North Shropshire!

⚡ Making homes more energy efficient makes sense - it saves electricity and saves money in the long-term.

💷 But I've heard from several constituents whose taxpayer-funded changes have gone wrong.

➡️ The Government must do more to protect consumers and ensure value for money.

#WearItPink

Great to meet supporters and staff from Breast Cancer Now in Parliament this week to celebrate Wear It Pink.

The charity is doing wonderful work researching breast cancer and supporting people affected by the disease.

I am baffled by the decision to withdraw support from someone who has lost their leg but remains determined to work.

I hope this is a case of 'computer says no' and that the Minister's intervention will make sure that common sense is listened to.

It's a tough time to be a farmer - so it's great to see organisations out there talking about mental health among farmers.

I met Yellow Wellies, the NFU and others in Parliament this week to talk about the challenges facing family farms, mental health provision and rural sustainability.

📈 The cost of living keeps rising but for those with pre-1997 pensions their income is not keeping pace.

➡️ I challenged the Government on this yesterday but the Minister appeared to miss the point - the only solution is a change to the law.

It was great to be out and about in Wem with local councillor team Gary and Alan this weekend.

Now back to Westminster for another busy week in Parliament...

It's Damp and Mould Action and Awareness Week, a campaign on a mission to tackle the widespread issue of damp and mould in homes across the UK. Spearheaded by Oswestry-based Aico, it's become a vital platform for raising awareness and driving action. Find out more at: www.aico.co.uk/damp-mould-a...

Today was the first time that Education Ministers have answered questions in the Commons since the St Martins School fire last month.

Staff are working extremely hard to get all students back on-site ASAP - and I'll keep pushing the Government to do more to make sure that happens.

🚫 I cannot support a mandatory digital ID where people are forced to turn over their private data just to go about their daily lives.

Liberal Democrats have always stood up to defend civil liberties against government overreach.

We will fight tooth and nail to oppose these plans too.

Today I joined Market Drayton Councillor Jeremy Blandford for a look around the annual Ginger and Spice festival. Another great festival, this year featuring a parade in the afternoon. Of course I’ve come home with some Belton cheese and Billington’s gingerbread too!

The role of grassroots sport is really important in fostering strong connections to the community. It was good to discuss that, and cricket provision across North Shropshire, with Cricket Shropshire and the England Cricket Board at Whittington Cricket Club yesterday.

2 years since #Whitchurch Civic Centre closed its doors after dangerous concrete was found, but no solution found. I told the BBC - while there’s deliberation, Whitchurch is without a permanent library & place to meet. I’m hopeful of progress with colleagues at #Shropshire Council.

Pubs are at the heart of our community 🍻 But they're struggling... Will the Chancellor help? This week I've called on Rachel Reeves and her team to make sure there are measures in the upcoming budget to protect #pubs in North #Shropshire and beyond, and support our wonderful #hospitality industry.

North Shropshire farmers, and those across the country, deserve better. It’s time to stop neglecting them. Today I'm happy to support the NFU's #BackBritishFarmingDay. Earlier I met with their Midlands Regional Director and call on the Government for fairer funding and clearer labelling.

#EmergencyServicesDay lets us acknowledge the incredible role emergency responders play in keeping us safe and well. Day in, day out, the police, fire, ambulance and air ambulance services come to our aid and I'm grateful for all that they do in North Shropshire and beyond.🚨Thank you 🚨

The dithering must stop! The Transport Minister has confirmed to me the total set aside for train station Access for All scheme, but with oven-ready designs, Whitchurch's plans need the green signal now. I pressed the Government today - and look forward to a response. #whitchurch #shropshire

A bit like fitting a square peg in a round hole. The Government wants greater devolution - including combining local authorities - but this metropolitan model doesn't work for Shropshire. I made that point in Parliament today and would urge the Minister to listen. #shropshire #devolution

Good to hear directly from shopkeepers at MOO and BOOM, Make Your House a Home, and The Vinyl Countdown in #Whitchurch of the challenges of running a small business locally. My conversations, alongside Councillor Andy Hall, showed the importance of supporting our high street shops #Shropshire
