And so I chose the Primo Levi poem carefully, as I choose a hundred things I do every day carefully, because my worst fear is not losing everything to McCarthyism, but losing everything and being told it was my fault.

As an academic, that fear has been with me for years; it is not new to 2025.

I am not scared of being accused of antisemitism, because I am a proud Jew, and I know what is in my heart. But I am scared that, if McCarthyism comes for me and calls me an antisemite, no one will step in to protect me; it will just become another discourse to pass time online

All of this is done with the utmost care, because the thing that is most likely to end my career abruptly and senselessly is an astroturfed right-wing attack because I speak out about politics, or because I am “doing DEI,” or because of who I am: a queer socialist Jew and a climate scientist

and i would further argue that we need to use universal design, working on solving students assignment for students with disabilities first

kids with disabilities often wait the longest for a school assignment and need transportation to reach school

we shouldn't make these barriers
