65x24.app mark II is live! The biggest update ever for the best panoramic camera app on iPhone.

Includes a new (optional) Liquid Glass based design, a modular control system, and so many new features that users have been requesting in the last 6 months.

Thanks for your support!

Extraordinary sunset this evening. Which I caught just the end of from our place. iPhone 12Pro with the 65x24 app by @heliographe.studio

Looking due east from the 13th floor of our building. That’s Mount Fuji on the left of the first frame.

Our first acquisition: very excited to announce that @iconfactory.com has entrusted us with BitCam.app, the best 1-bit camera for iPhone.

No changes for now — it'll take a bit of time to modernize this 10 year old app — but I have lots of ideas for it. Stay tuned :)

Shipped a minor update for BayerCam.app : now shows proper focal length (in mm) on iOS 26, minimum focus distance for the active camera (useful!), and fixes a number of little visual nits

Bigger update coming later this year, don't hesitate to send feature requests my way if you haven't already~

this comic by Ben Montero lives in my head forever

Trust your gut, trust your feet...

So I built the new features in a modular, customizable, and opt-in way, so that the app can look and behave radically differently - or just the same, down to the app icon that can be reverted to the old one.

Power to the users.

65x24.app mark I on the top, mark II on the bottom.

Yes, they look identical on first launch—even though mark II comes with a dozen+ new features

It was a priority for me to design it in such a way that the workflow and muscle memory of existing users wouldn't be disrupted at all

Another pause in proceedings for me, as I await the next photo op with the German minister I’m shadowing these past couple of days.

And a lovely view of Azabudai Hills.

I'm obviously biased, but any time I use 65x24.app in fullscreen viewfinder mode, I can't help but feel that our phones are just meant to be shooting in panoramic all the time

Love my Ricoh GRIIIx!

Surreal image quality in such a tiny form factor.

I have a secret to tell you:
Yes, rendering a bunch of fancy effects on the GPU will use more battery than...not

This is why 65x24.app lets you quickly turn off the Liquid Glass theme & revert to the Classic one, for when you need as much battery life as possible

(or maybe you just like flat UIs)

Made a quick table to share when people ask about (Bayer) RAW vs ProRAW, as the naming is confusing & the differences subtle but meaningful

One isn't better than the other—BayerRAW is closer to what the sensor actually "sees", ProRAW a better showcase of the iPhone's computational processing smarts
heliographe.studio
@andrewwrites.bsky.social bit of a mixup here - all iPhones since the 6s can shoot RAW (but the native Camera app doesn’t support it, you need a 3rd party app like BayerCam.app or Halide)

ProRAW is the format only supported by Pro devices

(confusing naming by Apple, as the 2 are quite different)

Good morning from #Tokyo on a bright Wednesday! I am working at the office today, and the view from the 18th floor never gets old. Also a nice showcase for @heliographe.studio’s #panoramic #65x24 app.

That's great, very glad to hear that!

It's such a unique format, I fell in love with it years ago and it's hard to shoot anything but panoramic now!

I generally find the 5× telephoto on my 15 Pro way too tight, but every once in a while it really delivers. Shot with 65x24.app

Didn't get an iPhone 17?

That's okay, the latest 65x24.app mark II update brings tons of new features to all iPhones from the last 10 years, including the classic 8 year old iPhone X (definitely no AI post processing on this guy)
heliographe.studio
Another little feature in 65x24.app mark II that makes a huge difference: fully customizable grid lines for composition.

Whether you want rule of thirds, center lines, a tight grid for architecture - or even something more exotic like only vertical or only horizontal lines, you can make it yours.

Very much inspired by Night Mode on the Apple Watch Ultra (I kinda wish it was a system wide thing on iOS/macOS too...)
heliographe.studio
One of the many little new features in 65x24.app mark II that greatly improve quality of life: night mode.

At the tap of a button, the entire interface turns red.

Great for not blasting your retinas at night (or not blinding people behind you at concerts)
heliographe.studio
An extra option I had fun adding is labels in a variety of different scripts for the slot names - from classic numbers and letters to Greek, Chinese, and more.
heliographe.studio
A new feature in 65x24.app mark II, amongst the top requested by users, is multiple processing preset slots.

You now get 4 slots you can switch between on the fly, with a variety of customizable controls to quickly get to the one you want.
