England is so shit. Dropped my car off early to be looked and was expecting at least somewhere nearby to get breakfast as there's lots of industrial/retail bits nearby. All the coffee places have closed their 'front' shop so only doing driv-thru and the big sainsburys doesn't have a cafe. Found..1/2

How is it that people can work for car warranty companies and not be clued up on car issues? Every time I call Auto Protect they act like they've never spoken about cars before. ECO stop/start - "what's that?". Airscarf - "could you explain what that is?". They could at elastic Google it!!

Had a nasty cold since about Thurs which I'm fairly certain is just full-blown plague now (tested neg for Covid). Send cake. And new lungs.

I'm at the point in my parents' visit where I'm trying to get them around other people just so they aren't the centre of attention anymore. Never encountered people more self-centred than them. Every discussion turns to them without fail. Every question is designed to turn conversation back to them.

See also my 70 something Mum. Never. Stops. Talking. Says nothing, though.
how does my 4-year-old niece wake up every day ready to talk constantly until she goes to bed?

Parents are visiting. This is what I've just collected from rooms downstairs, and I've just had to sweep up clods of mud off the floor.

Someone near us set off a firework at 16:35. It wasn't even dark! The poor cat was cowering in the garage and ran in the house as soon as I opened the back door.

I was alarmed at the accidental release of two prisoners recently until I found out just how many were released in error between March 2024 and March 2025. 262!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People will mock this. But something to note:

When Remembrance Day was introduced, this is EXACTLY what many British WW1 veterans did on it.

They would meet up with old friends and colleagues from their units. Talk. Laugh. Cry. Toast those not there and get joyously, and utterly shitfaced. /1

It may have been on the other place, but some may know how much I LOVE to bang on about these oven dishes. They fit pasta sheets without any breaking involved, and fit in the oven side by side. Yes I am a very sad 42yo. No I do not care. It's too awesome.

Had a modest Halloween display outside last night, some of which I've moved inside. My favourite is this ghostly little guy 👻

Really hoping I don't drench the collar of my (thin, cotton) pyjamas again tonight. Getting pretty sick of waking up with soaking head/face/neck these days. If I wear anything without a collar, it just makes the edge of my pillow wetter. Fun.

I don't know who to credit this image to, but anyway, they got the price wrong.

That 2/9d should read £122 million

I KNEW IT! I've been saying for years that film dialogue has got really thick. I actually start getting my phone out because I am BORED. 90s and early 00s ilms always have my full attention as they aren't dumbed down.
We've always had entertainment, & some of it has always been an easy, lighthearted distraction from everyday life. But as always, we need to supplement it with real news, interesting documentaries, art, cinema, etc. Life isn't EastEnders, & people never used to think it was.
#GoodMorning, everyone.
