So regardless of the truth of whether there are actually more transphobic people who won’t support a pro-trans candidate than trans people who won’t support a transphobic one, or if votes from both groups are actually needed, their position is both philosophically and strategically bankrupt.

When I’ve brought this up, the most common justification has been “there’s more transphobes than trans people”. And to that I say, if your allegiance is based simply on majority rule rather than concrete principles, then it’s no match for fascism as they target minority after minority.

It’s really telling that a lot of “blue no matter who” people think that they need votes from both trans people and transphobes to win, but nearly all their ire is directed towards trans people for not “compromising” our lives and principles rather than demanding transphobes let us be.
