I like them when they they add to the experience and they fit the theme! I think you see a lot of bland minigames that are boring or feel shoehorned in because the dev is worried about "gameplay"/broad appeal beyond the VN itself. If they're creative and cleverly integrated, it can be a fun treat.

Rick was interested in it because someone recommended it to him. I warned him going into it that it was weird (positive) and VERY different from most anime, which he doesn't normally watch much of anyway. He spent most of the episode like this, but he DID like it, so he's a keeper. 💖
