I think that's probably true? I mean, you can never sleep on music, and someday someone might make a truly transcendent movie. Movies and video games are perhaps similar in not yet taking the highest heights. It took painting centuries to get there.

My thought on why there's not yet been a Great Art video video game is just that it's just maybe too new of an art form, and too complicated, but it's never been a satisfying answer. I'm sure Celeste is good, less so that it's at the level of Michelangelo or Beethoven or Tolstoy. But time will tell.

I hadn't thought about it as a consequence of the modes of production before, that's interesting. But I don't think that any video has yet achieved great art status (at least as I personally think about that). Maybe Tetris is? Maybe that prices your point, come to think of it. Is chess great art?
