i had a teacher that gave me so much patient feedback and i've had many good teachers but this one was especially important. wish everyone could have that
There are a few students in my classes this semester that are *really* good writers, like way better than me, and I know whenever they write it is their work. I also have some students who aren’t so good writers, but I know it’s their work because it’s never formulaic slop and they are improving
This.
I’m always kind of surprised when people say it writes well

would be terribly fascinating if people started to accept that the statistical malpractice used for racial profiling was just as broken as the other forms of """AI""" as a result of seeing it employed in places which can be evaluated without technical expertise. doubtful but fun to think about
The haters said AI can't be relied on, and the haters are right

Ironically if they were the strict materialists they claimed to be, and not abject, mewling moral idealists, they'd understand that their position is detrimental to sex workers and women in general. But they don't care at all. As long as the whores suffer.

The strongest argument for genAI in games - or anything - should be "look how much better this game we made is because of this." It should be undeniable and in everyone's faces how well it worked. Best sales pitch as of 2025 is still "pretend it's normal so you go along with it"

[makes a network where literally everything is public] we don't have the capacity for infinite debates in public
Our policy has been not to comment on individual accounts. You end up having to litigate every case in public, and we don’t have the capacity for infinite debates in public.
Then there’s also the consequences such as the increased litigation and bad actors gaming your systems.

We are certainly facing a lot of systemic problems which should not be individualized, but at the same time, I believe that academics hold a certain amount of power, and it is worth being thoughtful about how we use that power, including the framing of our work.

When you are using the "AI" framing, does the way you talk about "AI" carry water for the Sam Altmans of the world? That is, are you helping to paint a picture of their tech as inevitable, all powerful, and/or anything other than commercial products?
