Dick Jackett was born on 1 December 1880. Like brother John, he represented both Leicester and Great Britain at the 1908 Olympics.

On this day in 2002 a 57 game home Premiership unbeaten run came to an end. Fours years and 11 months since the previous Welford Road defeat. It was that lot that did it.

Tigers won the Anglo-Welsh Cup that March, but Mauger’s departure was announced the following day. He became head coach of the Highlanders, Moana Pasifka, and now an assistant coach with Fiji.

He started the 2008 Premiership final, but injury plagued his latter playing career, with his last game against Northampton in February 2010. A month later he announced his retirement due to back problems.

New Zealand international and Leicester player and coach Aaron Mauger was born on 29 November 1980.

Dwyer moved to Bristol and later back to New South Wales with the Waratahs. He was inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame in 2011.
