Man, I wasn't sure what this collaboration would yield, but it's amazing. Gritty, bleak visions of an industrialized midwest meets the grit and yawning expanses of the American South meet to form one hell of a captivating record. Check it out wherever you get music.

Photos from last night's Lucero/Jessica Lea Mayfield show to celebrate 20 years of NOBODY'S DARLINGS! They played the entire album start to finish and then a set of songs throughout their career, including their cover of Jawbreaker's "Kiss the Bottle". Absolutely incredible show!

HELL YEAH! Right in front of the stage for Lucero's 20th anniversary of NOBODY'S DARLINGS tour.

Being included in this book will always be one of the highlights of both my life and writing career. I got to stand side by side with a group of talented artists from different fields and make my voice heard.

I will NEVER tolerate the things this administration stands for, period.

Some photos from last night's show with Pile, Nnamdi, and MAKEITSTOP!

Pile tore the roof of the place and closed out their encore by saying Free Palestine, Fuck Donald Trump, and Fuck ICE and an incendiary cover of Björk's "Declare Independence". If they're ever in your area, you HAVE to see them!

HELL YEAH! Tonight's the night, seeing PILE in a small intimate venue.

Latest pick ups to add to the library! I'm behind on King's work, but I always pick up the new ones to read when I can. Also, THE LIBRARY AT HELLEBORE is my first dark academia book. But if there is one writer I trust to introduce me to the genre, it's Cassandra Khaw!

"Every Time You Lose Your Mind: A Film about Failure" is streaming now on Hulu and it's an absolute MUST watch for Failure fans, other creatives, and those struggling with addiction. An honest and deep dive into the career of one of the best bands of the 90s whose music still sounds timeless.

I just finished S.A. Cosby's KING OF ASHES, and hot fucking damn, this novel is otherworldly good! Cosby's been an insta-buy author for me over the last few years and this is pushing for my favorite of his books. Don't even think, just add this book to your summer reading list and thank me later!

It's way past time we let this spray-tanned circus clown know exactly what we think of his insane policies and behavior. No matter how big or how small your involvement or action, make your voice heard this day and every day.

None of this is negotiable and if you don't offer the same love and respect, you can show yourself off my timeline.

This song had an absolute stranglehold on every college house party I ever went to.

It's been awhile since I shared new additions to the library! So excited for all of these. As someone who loves book design, I love the dripping blood edges of BLOOD ON HER TONGUE and the stark, metal attitude of BETA VULGARIS!

Bane's DON'T WAIT UP is 31 minutes of pure melodic hardcore gold. Awesome soundtrack for today.

Traveling for work, but that doesn't stop me from picking up new books! Really excited about the Junji Ito book, UNCANNY: THE ORIGINS OF FEAR. I love his work and Iook forward to reading his thoughts on creativity.

Listening to Slint's SPIDERLAND while spending the whole day outside clearing snow is oddly meditative.

I still have to watch the film THE MAGICIAN, but I recently fished up MR. INBETWEEN and all I can saw is WOW! Scott Ryan is a supreme talent whose writing throughout the 3 seasons shines and brings surprising depth and even humor to the crime genre. His portrayal of Ray Shoesmith is also top notch.

A blast from the 90s! Let's see if it's as good as I remember...

Recent book mail and today's new additions! Excited for all of these, curious to hear anyone's thoughts if you've already read them.

Sharing this for everyone, especially my writer friends. Craig Finn of The Hold Steady recently had Willy Vlautin on his podcast That's How I Remember It, a podcast about memory. It's a fascinating interview with some great process stuff in it. Definitely worth checking out!

Ethel Cain's PERVERTS is a challenging listen, but one that I enjoy immensely. Haunting and uncomprimising, I love her music so damn much.

My stunning limited print of @sloppjockey.bsky.social's "waste crown" came today! Huge fan of Dusty's art and I'm already thinking about the next one...

I've been meaning to post about this for a few days, but I've honestly been too gobsmacked by the eccentric, WTF nature of Netflix's latest documentary phenomenon 😂 Shoutout to my best friend @mothfrenzy.bsky.social for introducing me to THE KINGS OF TUPELO: A SOUTHERN CRIME SAGA.
