This is the new norm. 👇

Do you hear the Premier talking about it? Nope. All about privatizing non-life threatening care.
And another 42 hours with no Dr on site in the Hinton ER again this week...

Years ago, I warned that Danielle Smith would run out of enemies in political realm and turn her sights on the courts.

Her latest attacks aren't some high-minded philosophical critique of judicial supremacy.

They're pure populist pablum, specially crafted to remove yet another check on her power.

* There is no such thing as "just a flu". Viral infections are bad for us.

* Viruses are variable. Non-evolutionary, typological thinking does not work.

* Viruses evolve. They don't automatically get milder. More infections means more evolution.

* The immune system is not like a muscle and immunity debt is bullshit.

* There are various ways that repeated COVID infections could be causing short- and/or longer-term immunity theft, making people more vulnerable to other infections.

Reminders, as public health officials warn of a very bad flu season:

🧵

* Washing hands is not a strategy for a respiratory virus. N95s, ventilation, air filtration -- especially in hospitals.

* We should have been cleaning indoor air with the same effort we put into cleaning drinking water.

Smith doubled down on her anti court rhetoric today...

She even seemed to suggest that federally appointed judges couldn't render impartial rulings and that she believed her interpretation should always be above theirs.

This is among the most democratically dangerous things Danielle Smith has said.

She wants to remove all checks and balances on her power and projects herself as the embodiment of "the people."

We have left the realm of liberal democracy in this province.

Nothing says “we’re proud of our work and happy to run on our record” quite like being so scared of the electorate you prohibit anyone else from using the word “conservative.” 🙄

I know plenty of conservatives who don’t feel the UCP represents them. #ableg

We should paste this under posts saying C19 infections confer long lasting immunity…

The missing “balance” in that conclusion.

Not only have the courts ruled that the separatists referendum is unconstitutional and that separatism would require the consent of First Nations...

A SCATHING epilogue directly called out Alberta trying to legislate away the courts ability to issue a decision!

COVID-19 continues to mutate, circulate, infect, and disable (through long-covid). One of my Jr High patients got disabled by long-covid this year.

Please implement a national clean indoor air strategy for all bldgs., airplanes, trains, buses, and more to prevent covid. Call me.

"isn't that an admission the education system actually is underfunded if you're afraid an arbitrator would have ruled in the teachers favour?"
