Een komeet? Nee, dit is de planeet Mercurius. Hij heeft een uiterst ijle dampkring waaruit de druk van het zonlicht natriumatomen wegblaast. De staart is alleen te zien met een filter dat het licht van natrium op de golflengte van 589 nm door laat. Foto Steven Bellavia. Bron spaceweather.com

Dit was de Maan zojuist. Ik zie rechtsonder vrijwel op de horizon een paar schaduwen. Als hij nog niet perfect vol is, zou ik die schaduwen daar niet verwachten. Of is dit het gevolg van de scheve ligging van zijn baan? @hydrology.nl

De #Zon vandaag. De groep van drie grote zonnevlekken links onder het midden vertoont weinig activiteit, dus vooralsnog ook weinig kans op een uitbarsting. De groep werd op 25 november door de Marsrobot Perseverance gefotografeerd toen hij voor ons nog niet te zien was. @leonoor.bsky.social

En voor de liefhebbers: met een verrekijker kun je ook de planeet Uranus die er vlakbij staat zien. Niet spectaculair, maar wel leuk voor je afstreeplijstje. De foto maakte ik op 21 november, en Uranus staat bij het pijltje.
