Rashid Khalidi is a brilliant critical theorist and historian, and an exceptional colleague and friend at Columbia. His course this summer @nssrnews.bsky.social at the Institute for Critical Social Inquiry was so important to our students. This is a great loss: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
I spent decades at Columbia. I’m withdrawing my fall course due to its deal with Trump | Rashid Khalidi

‘We urge all states to fulfill their responsibilities under international law: demand & enforce a permanent ceasefire, an arms embargo, the immediate withdrawal of Israeli troops, unimpeded distribution of humanitarian aid, equality & self-determination for all Palestinians. End the genocide now.’

Taner Akçam, Marianne Hirsch, and I introduce the Genocide and Holocaust Studies Crisis Network and call for immediate concrete measures to prevent further atrocity crimes and to protect civilians in Gaza.

“People in Gaza are neither dead nor alive, they are walking corpses”: a colleague in #Gaza told me this morning.

Meanwhile, according to UNRWA latest findings: one in every five children is malnourished in Gaza City as cases increase every day.

Gaza is being deliberately starved to death in front of the whole world, and the only people being arrested over it are those who opposed the crime.

The Israeli Authorities are starving civilians in #Gaza.

Among them are 1 million children.

Lift the siege: allow UNRWA to bring in food and medicines.

The normalization of killing Palestinians has been ongoing but this murderous “humanitarianism” is something new. I can’t recall a situation where people seeking aid risk getting shot en masse daily from the people —the Israelis— providing the “aid.”
