That's about where I started, then the next step was adguard or pihole to filter web content. Block all the pesky tracking and ads.

I did the same with my m270q, but had an SFP+ card instead in the slot. Got 10Gbe to the main switch. It's been running OPNsense for 9 months and has been solid the whole time.

It turned out my device had a faulty fan causing the high temps. I've since spoken with Beelink support and they sent out a replacement. Now fitted and drives idle at 41c and go up to 55c during the parity check, with default fan settings.

It has a good atmosphere, and if you're into the story and style of Dune, its worth a play through.

Maybe keep an eye out for a deal, I got it cheaper via cdkeys.com (£32 currently for standard)

Bugs wise, its been ok for me so far. I've had a couple of weird glitches during the combat, which can be a little annoying. Some people have had bigger issues like buggy's getting stuck under terrain etc (which can be annoying as the resources to make them take a while on your own)

It depends what you're into. I enjoy building bases and gathering resource, and progressing through the story. I currently play alone as none of my friends are into it. Not found a group of people to join on the server.

The end game is PvP, before that its mostly PvE with small PvP areas.

If you can't access the console remotely, you'll have to plug a screen in and login to root.

Then you can use nano to edit "/etc/network/interfaces" (carefully), then run "ifreload -a" to apply the changes.

Originally, it was to save hosting costs for a couple of websites.

Secondly, to take control of my data. Be that images, passwords or my important files (statements, payslips, invoices etc)

Finally, to make things easier, using Home Assistant to monitor and automate things around the home

I ordered direct from Beelink and didn't pay any import tax 😊

Your mileage may vary as I do believe it ships from China, despite saying UK warehouses on their website.

They bounced between a delivery locker and the depot for a week before finally getting them delivered. The locker was full.

I had a small play with one of them in the office today. I love them! They work so well.

Trying to decide the best way to fit them into my network at home.

Just 2x drives in. The parity drive is the only one that gets hot during checks. It's not for long and only once a week.

The fan is very quiet. I've got it set to max, but going to see if I can increase its speed. Also try different thermal pads.

Might try and 3D print a case with more air flow.

the general idle temps for drives is about 61-3, current UK temps not helping

It's a tidy box. It's running everything fine, and its a good combo with UNRAID as it frees up a drive

I'm tempted to try Proxmox on the eMMC storage instead, but that's just because I love Proxmox

Only issue so far, the drives run very hot. During parity check the parity disk is breaking 85

I have some on the way and they're stuck with the delivery company 🥲

It's adorable. I love the use of 1L PCs for home labs. I have 1 as a router and 1 for Proxmox currently. Would like two more to make a cluster.

Everything seems to be in order.

Curious, what's the device on the right attached to the cabinet?
