If you're looking for another memoir that packs a serious punch, pick up "A History of My Brief Body" by Billy-Ray Belcourt. So much wisdom and beauty within these pages. A truly powerful read.

Brontez Purnell's "100 Boyfriends" is a searing, joyful, and utterly blessed read! Raw, hilarious, and deeply human stories of queer love that stick with you. Highly recommend! #100Boyfriends #BrontezPurnell

"The Queer Art of Failure" is a 2011 book of queer theory by Jack Halberstam, read wonderfully by Paul Boehmer. This book is a fascinating exploration of how embracing failure can be a generative queer strategy. Highly recommended for anyone looking to disrupt norms!

Also, consider discussions around "Gay, Inc.: The Nonprofitization of Queer Politics," which examines the impact and critiques of the non-profit structure on LGBTQ+ activism.

This Pride Month, expand your perspectives into queer complexity! Here is a short reading list of some book that made me unlearn... 📚 "Bad Gays: A Homosexual History" offers a challenging look at complex queer figures, moving beyond hero worship. #PrideMonth #QueerHistory

Recently learned how to weave on a rigid heddle loom, this is my first full project. Really fascinating process, looking forward to bringing textiles I make into my quilts.

[2/5] The ONLY effective approach: Attack Popillia japonica underground now! Apply Heterorhabditis bacteriophora nematodes aka: Larvanem when soil consistently stays above 10°C day AND night. These microscopic predators hunt down grubs before they can emerge and devastate your plants.

🧵🌱 THREAD: Japanese Beetle and/or lawn grub nightmare? Horticulturist here with a solution that actually works, and the time to act is now. After 15 years watching these monsters destroy gardens, I'm begging you to stop wasting money on those useless traps! They only ATTRACT more beetles! [1/5]

Adding in : Oxeye Daisy (Chrysanthemum leucanthemum), Wild Strawberry (Fragaria virginiana), Self-heal (Prunella vulgaris), Creeping Thyme (Thymus serpyllum) & Marsh Blue Violet (Viola cucculata). Beautiful, functional ecosystem instead of resource-hungry turf! Ideal lawn for our sub-ecoregion 🌱
May 2, 2025 at 6:28 PM
Introducing the St. Lawrence Lowlands lawn! Replace your turf with: Bird's-foot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatus, 60% wt, 30% seeds), White Clover (Trifolium repens, 39% wt, 64% seeds), Yarrow (Achillea millefolium, 1% wt, 6% seeds). Low-maintenance, drought-resistant for pollinators! #NoMowMay 🌱

Slashing international aid & academic research funds is a tactic taken straight from Orban/Hungary.

Trump followed suit and it's exactly what the CPC is promising for Canada.

It is predicated in their belief that civil society needs to be destroyed.

Awesome work @greenpeaceca.bsky.social team!

Three Americans complained about this art, so the Atlantic Veterinary College demanded the artist remove it.

Christopher Griffin resigned in protest.

May we all be as pricipaled as Christopher Griffin.

Quilted stole to celebrate the green stripe in the OG Baker Pride flag, representing nature. The design wraps the wearer in a quilted landscape of rolling hills, stone formations and wildflowers, a reminder that queerness exists throughout the natural world. From my Progress Pride series: 142x196cm

An accidental collaboration with my husband. While I was out of the studio @shawndearn.bsky.social took a bunch of my improv blocks and arranged them artfully on the design wall with more linen scrap and this was the result! Made from upcycled linen offcuts / "Collaboration" 40"x 50" (102 x 127cm)

"Lost Colours Cape" This quilt cape is a tribute to two colours lost from Gilbert Baker's Pride flag, which in 1978 debuted with eight colours. The OG flag included hot pink (sexuality) and turquoise (art/magic), colours later omitted for practical reasons. Backing is found at the thrift shop.

I got the best email of the year! Subject: "Liste de plantes et semences indigènes 2025"

The annual list of Indigenous plants and seeds my supplier will have on hand this season. I specialize my horticulture practice in the St Lawrence Lowlands in Quebec, using almost 100% plants from this region.

My "Trans History" quilt features blocks with pride/trans flag fabrics, indigo-dyed diamonds symbolizing infinite gender possibilities, and quilted trans symbol. Blue, pink, and white honour the 1999 trans flag. Black binding commemorates lives lost. Part of my Progress Pride series. #solidarity

Like so many I mourn the loss of life worldwide and feel utterly helpless. I use textile art to help me meditate on the present and process. The quilted banner is made from my husband's and my old shirts; thrifted batting and backing with the letters made from a long-forgotten family tablecloth.

Quilt share: This quilt is made from my husband's old shirts and thrifted fabric, with organic cotton poplin on the back. The modern stained glass quilting style was inspired by www.emilywattsquilts.com -
