I would love to have the democrats that republicans keep fear mongering about. Those guys want to raise the minimum wage, establish UBI, defend trans rights, make abortions free, defund the police, and will tax crap out of the wealthy. Those guys sound great

I had never watched anything Ultraman before so that was a trip. I thought he was only one dude not an entire city full of people in spandex with a single expression molded to their face. Very silly and full of wire fu. Fun to watch with an equally confused friend

But it felt like it ended multiple times, each one a little worse. Sometimes the logic was a little loose. And the score didn’t work for me.
I wish I loved it, but I still had plenty of fun.

I’m mixed on it. I think when it works it just feels like I’m watching the best movie of the year. It had me glued to my captivated. Denzel and Jeffery Wright were excellent as always. It had all the Spike Lee idiosyncrasies with the most subtle version of his dolly shot.

Really asks the question “who is the real monster, is it man or is it the giant monster destroying the city?”

That sequence was great
The walking through the streets sequence was my favorite
“Pools are great for holding water” was probably my favorite line, once again by Danny McBride

If you only get in one movie in a week, you can do a hell of a lot worse than Rashomon

Not in game dev, but still in software.
I use very silly debug statements when bugfixing or adding new features. Lots of "dear god please work", "finally got here", and "SuperCoolVariable evaluates to [thing]".
It amuses me and makes it very clear that if seen during code review to flag it.

It’s pretty close to my platonic ideal of a buddy cop movie

I think 4e had issues but man does it seem like it would make the best crpg. I'm sad we didn't get good dungeon crawlers out of it.

As I get older, my interest in the convention part of NYCC dwindles, but riding the train in with my old friends is priceless.

I saw Ball of Fire last week and absolutely loved it. What an accurate title

Lotta large reptiles. Was a combination of kaiju, dragons, and dinosaurs part of the plan or a fun coincidence?

It's 100 years old, but Battleship Potemkin still really works. I was afraid it would be the kind of classic that moved the medium forward but was blunted by time, but it still has thrilling sequences and a great sense of scale.
Freaky Tales was fun but not as good as its inspirations

It has been a very rough past two weeks, so not a lot of movies. Theatre of Blood was the tail end of a Halloween marathon

My wife is an elementary school teacher and she busts her ass getting things done. She takes so much work home it leaves her exhausted every night.
This year she was nominated for teach of the year at her school. I’m so proud of her and I hope she gets the votes.

I went as Pat to NYCC and had exactly 3 people recognize me

I liked Lake Michigan Monster, but I think I'd be more positive on it if I didn't see Hundreds of Beavers, their far superior follow up.
Black Phone 2 was uneven. Several bits of it were fantastic and my flavor of horror, but it felt under and overwritten sometimes in the same scene.
