Rewind to early 90s, and people said the same about ipv4 compared to appletalk, ipx or netbeui which all sported friendly names like BobsComputer. Having to memorize four(!) numbers seemed very tedious then but the answer was the same as here. Use dns.

I think people make 'better' halfshades than just a mechanical ordered dither. Here it does both horizontal lines for shadows on the wall and every fourth pixel for the lute and every second pixel for the tower and the arm. A machine generated pic would probably go for same kind of dither everywhere
