Instead of land-use conversion, Filipino peasants campaign for genuine land reform, so Filipinos actually own, cultivate and use their lands in the ways they determine are best for the whole people and not just the elite Filipinos and foreign companies.

Homes and farms in rural areas are being torn apart for pit mines, shopping malls, golf courses, and even fake “developments” which sit vacant and line the pockets of corrupt politicians. Many of these projects don’t even have legal permits.

In the Philippines, a majority of the population are peasant farmers who subsist mainly on agriculture. These peasants suffer the brunt of the impacts of government corruption & state violence, and stand on the frontlines in the struggle for self-determination and genuine land reform.
