🌶️💙📚 CR: Stand And Defend by Sloane St. James

Narrated by: J. F. Harding & Chloe Ryan

last one for the current Lakes Hockey series! the premise seems interesting but I’m definitely wary of the DV content warning.

surprisingly sharp and high-def 🥰

part of the reason I don’t go to live concerts is that I feel like tickets shouldn’t be more than like $40 lol

so when I see $180+, there’s no way I’m buying one for myself, let alone an extra just in case I can find someone to come with me.

💙📚 201/???
Before We Came by Sloane St. James 🏒💖

I started this series on book 2, but came back to read them in order.

a few awkward lines from a very possessive Lonan.
Birdy goes to therapy and learns she’s worthy of love.

I am a sucker for childhood crushes finding eachother again.

alrighty- I’ve wanted to start a thread of books I’m reading with short reviews, but I keep not doing that.

I just hit 200 books for this year!

so, this thread will start with 201 💙📚
(and yes, they’ll likely all be romance novels) #booksky

Nothing to see here. I just love Liam's characters who can pick locks apparently. And are especially sexy while doing it.

A depiction of the nervous system of a human body in white on a black background. The brain and eyes and head are a tight cluster of white blobs and lines, with all the other nerves that go down the arms and legs and torso being straightened out into spiky alarmed hedgehog formation.

I can’t tell if the romance isn’t believable to me, or if I just feel that way because the gender roles are reversed.

I also don’t have strong attachment towards either main character.

the structure of the book is very romantasy, but the puzzle pieces feel forced.

genuinely love that for you 🥳

the gender role swap is challenging to get used to, but in a good way.

like, I feel it’s supposed to be uncomfortable. which makes a statement.

this is my first book from Tricia!

I enjoyed The Veiled Realm series that Caitlin narrated, so I’m excited to get to hear more of her work :)

The only book I’ve listened to with Aiden so far is Blood of Hercules—which I also liked.

overall, very excited to dive into this!

About What Fury Brings
#1 New York Times-bestselling author Tricia
Levenseller makes her adult debut in What Fury Brings, a sexy, empowering romantasy featuring a warrior general who must kidnap and train a husband in order to take her rightful place as queen.
"Listeners will fall in love with this compelling story and be loath to push the pause button." —AudioFile on The Shadows Between Us
There's a shortage of men in the kingdom of Amarra. After a failed rebellion against the matriarchy, most noblemen in the country are dead. Now the women of Amarra must obtain their husbands (should they want one) by kidnapping them from other kingdoms.
Olerra, a warrior princess vying for the throne, is determined to prove her worth by kidnapping a husband.
And not just any husband. To outmaneuver her treacherous cousin, she needs the best. Fortunately, the second-born prince of their greatest enemy is widely known for both his looks and his sweet, docile temperament. He's the perfect choice to secure her claim to the throne.
Sanos, heir to the Kingdom of Brutus, has nothing but contempt for the idea of a society run by women. Trained from birth to fight, lead, and follow in his father's overbearing footsteps, his path has always been set. Until he takes his younger brother's place in a drunken prank and finds himself kidnapped, carted off to the Amarran Palace, and informed that he is to become the husband of Queen Potential Olerra. Sanos needs to escape before anyone learns his real identity, but the more he gets to know his captor, the less sure he is of what he truly wants.
