I sorta did that with my daughter-in-law and James Bond, using her enjoyment of Austin Powers as a gateway to screen You Only Live Twice so she could see who Dr. Evil was based on (she owns all the Bond films now 😊)

I should’ve really said 70s-90s; Roots ‘77, The Winds of War ‘83, Salem’s Lot ‘79, The Stand ‘94, Rich Man, Poor Man ‘76, I, Claudius ‘76, Shōgun ‘80. I also count the V ‘83 miniseries, which had no business being turned into a regular series later by the network.

So many great miniseries in the 80s 🤩
