Great fun to be writing again, today about the various controversies of Paul Lorrain, Ordinary of Newgate
imogenknox.bsky.social
Graduation last week was the culmination of years of work on my project, from drafting that (very rough) initial proposal in Nov 2019 to passing my viva with no corrections last July. An especial thanks to @naomipullin.bsky.social for being there on the day and all the support during my PhD journey
imogenknox.bsky.social
By far the best incident has been when Lorrain felt the need to defend himself against an accusation that he'd been drunk on the job, been sick in front of the condemned prisoners, and subsequently died. He was in fact very much alive.
imogenknox.bsky.social
Some fascinating material so far in the Ordinary's Accounts. Shout out to Paul Lorrain for being so judgmental and providing some great quotes for my research
