Every fall, Lake Michigan’s southern shore becomes a migration corridor for tens of thousands of #birds. Our counters at Miller Beach, as part of the Kenneth J. Brock Fall Waterbird Survey, track everything from raptor kettles to massive Blue Jay flights to reveal the scale of these movements.

We get this question all the time: “When do Ruby-throated Hummingbirds show up in spring?” If you put your nectar feeders out by mid-April, you’ll be ready for those first tiny travelers looking for a quick refuel.
