Excited to give this one a spin - Psychocandy 40th Anniversary Deluxe by The Jesus and Mary Chain (Third Man Records)
A flagrant display of consumerism, bragging about the purchase of a new version of a vinyl record that I already own on three different formats. This one includes three different pretty colors and is recorded at 45 rpm, however.

We are thrilled to announce that our NEW Large Language Model will be released on 11.18.25.
Hurricane Imelda is gathering strength. Hold onto your shoes and purses.
My heart goes out to those on the frontline in the war-ravaged aisles of Powell’s Books.
I love that Kirk Hammett is such a geek that he spent a good portion of his Metallica money on horror comics and Frank Frazetta paintings.

I will check those out. Always good to see classic takes on the Universal monsters. Speaking of…the beginning of the Ploog Monster of Frankenstein series was almost an adaptation.
I also fondly remember John Bolton’s art on the Army of Darkness comic adaptation and the movie poster.
Creature From The Black Lagoon by Adams and Moncuse. I’ve always loved the movie, and Art Adams is a perfect choice for 1950s retro.
Love it! I picked up this particular issue because I recognized Fugazi and FEAR in a flip through, so of course that story resonated.

I think those were just SPX badge freebies. That one was my favorite.
Captain America 616-619. I remember really cool panels of Black Widow kicking. I need to pull them out of the short boxes for a re-read.
I wish this collected the Samnee Black Widow and Winter Soldier “Gulag” story from the 2004 Captain America run instead. Those were the issues that put Samnee’s kinetic art on my radar, and they prominently feature Natasha, unlike the later run.
At a glance, I thought this was the Doolittle album cover by Pixies.

Great speech from Chicago Gov. Pritzker.

I admit that I started ghost hearing the intro to The Blues Brothers ”Everybody Needs Somebody To Love” in my head over this, and it only enhanced the power of the whole message.

I ran into recommendations for Immortal Hulk on YouTube and picked it up. It’s a fun horror take on The Hulk that I am enjoying.

I don’t follow Ewing and Bennett, but I just realized Ewing wrote Zombo, one of my fav 2000 AD characters, and Bennett was the 90s artist half of Moore’s Supreme.
I did not know Earl Hickey had been holding a high level position at the FBI.

“Ares was Charles’s name in Africa, more than 20 years ago.” “When Charles found me, I was six.”
There is so much creativity and intrigue clearly conveyed through character design in this one panel introduction to the Cabal. What’s up with the head in a box? Dapper giant or ancient giant - how about both?

From the first issue of The Sixth Gun: Battle For The Six by Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt.

A really fantastic month in comic books. All of these were great - I think Garth Ennis and Becky Cloonan’s “The War” just might be my favorite Ennis story and I am glad it got a second chance outside its original anthology release.
A pile of recent comic books: Savage Sword of Conan, The Blood Brothers Mother, The War, Batman and Robin, Amazing Spider-Man, Supergirl, and The Sixth Gun

I did not realize Tom Lehrer was still alive. One of my grandfather’s favorites, his songs were much appreciated by my younger self.
