English librarian, writing a novel about aliens, slow runner, crafter (embroidery, crochet), opinions about cricket and human decency.
I would cut my hours at work so I would have more time to focus on my creative interests. If I could afford to do a four day week at the library it would give me headspace to write and time to do all the admin.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

1827 on a Friday night and I am already in my pyjamas and I've got a wash on. Let the evening commence!

Oops, got distracted by my book while eating my pre-gym banana. Better go before I get distracted by my phone as well... 😅

Right, home, shopping done, balcony sorted, cupboard tidied... now for a sit down with a book! 📚

So here's me on my library-birthday, 22 years to the day that I started this job, sitting in an office surrounded by many learned colleagues, chuckling that I got to use the word "flaps" in a binding description (for a portfolio). 🎂

Seventh panel done ✔️
I cannot stress enough how glad I am that I can read and sew at the same time, because this was BORING.

Woke up in time to hear the end of the cricket, so that wasn't the best start to the day, but my run was good, and now I get to spend the afternoon under a book! 🤩

Fire alarm in the library, got back in just in time to hear the last 10 minutes of the cricket... Blimey! 🏏😃

Not sure what was worse on my ride in this morning, the vicious headwind, or the bloody SLEET... 🥶☔

Mostly over the virus I've been fighting for the last few days, and managed to write a bit tonight, which is the first time I've looked at the WIP since last week. It's going OK, I think, but my cold-riddled brain couldn't have done much of use. 😷

Still never not going to be amused by a long S in words like "Paffion"... 📚😆

They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
And now, for just $24 a month on this app,
They can fuck up your grandkids too.

Very pleased to hear that my middle nephew is enjoying working at the local library as part of his Duke of Edinburgh award. Nice to see the librarianism passing to a new generation! 📚💜

Anyone who wants to run for political office - at any level - should demonstrate real-world experience of having worked in a low-income service industry such as a care home or a retail/catering job for at least a year so they can relate to normal people and not just the elites.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

A big part of fitness is listening to your body, so tonight I am skipping the gym because my body wants to sit down and eat Marmite peanuts rather than doing a tempo run. 🥱

Lolllll!! The M&S Christmas ad was on, and A said "ugh, it's going to be that fucking carrot next, isn't it?" And sure enough, next ad break... 🙄 How long until New Year?

Two things: firstly, kitten photos have been around a long time; and secondly, sometimes I approach a title search like this 🫣 but this time it was fine...

4th gig in a week last night and I have a new-found respect for anyone who commutes around London on a regular basis having spent a LOT of time on trains. It's been fun, but whoo, I'll be glad to get back to not eating train picnics for a bit! 🥪

Quite impressed with myself for managing to function at work today, given that we were out until 1am *again* last night, but I've decided to be kind and not make myself go out for a run after I finish. There is a limit (and I am 52).

Miscalculated my running direction today and went anticlockwise, which meant I was running into the sun on a tricky bit. Need to get used to the sun being so low in the afternoon now. Still warm in the sun, though 😎

We're out tonight (again) and I'm not in a costume (unless "Slightly tired librarian in a nice blue shirt" is a costume), but I did enjoy the various be-costumed people we encountered on the transport network last night on our way home. Hope all the fake blood washed off!

I'm going as Spotting that you misspelled a person's name just as you click send on an important email.
What terrifying thing are you dressing as this Halloween I'm dressing up as acid reflux

Out this evening for the first of a cluster of gigs in London, and I'm feeling what I can only describe as "anticipatory tiredness" for the fact that I'll be getting to bed at some point closer to midnight than usual. My brain is a weird place. 🥱

Forgot to put my Kindle (yes, I know...) in my bag this morning and consequently didn't zip it up. Waterproofs fell out as I was heading into the library. First thought: what if the ereader dropped out and **someone sees the sort of thing I read**?!! 🫣😬😐📚
(It's fine, it's at home).
