Lol there’s a theorist called Imre Szeman who describes this feeling as a kind of “bad Utopianism” that he calls apocalyptic environmentalism. It’s definitely tempting.

I have had the experience of directly contacting both churches and Catholic and Lutheran charities trying to secure direct assistance for refugees. The problem is that these guys are swamped in bureaucracy and paralyzed wrt direct aid.
