I never even watched it because the screenshots and clips that people were posting gave me the ick so bad 🤢 if I want to see OG Spock and Kirk there's a whole show and series of films that the actual actors actually made!! & I'd always rather see the crudest, stick figure fan art before any AI crap

lmao! And, if I'm remembering right, didn't they literally do that already? Wasn't there a short film a year or two ago that showed de-aged Kirk at Spock's deathbed or something, and it ended up having been made with AI? Maybe it wasn't totally AI but I can't remember. ANYWAY, YEP!!!

Preach, friend!! Agreed. I'm always trying to spend more time talking about what I love rather than what I don't, only because it's more fun, but I don't understand how you can love something and not occasionally feel disappointed or betrayed by it, and then feel compelled to talk about it.

So for me, creating an official show that is officially canon that officially answers these questions is just.. I don't know. It feels like they're trying to fill the "gaps" in the canon, but if every question about the ST universe is answered, what's left for the fans to do, except consume?

In my opinion, these questions about the expanded universe where ST takes place are best answered by the fans. They are the kind of questions that are the beginnings of fan obsessions, that inspire discussions, that inspire fan art, that inspire people to write and create and connect with each other

"What's the academy like" is a question that I like to turn over in my mind. Maybe I'd be curious to see how other fans answer that question, and read some fanfic about it as a way to expand my own thoughts. But I don't need a show to give me any official answers.

But I wouldn't want them to make a Star Trek show following the life of a famous holonovelist any more than I would want them to make a show about the chefs in the Replicator Test Kitchen who program recipes into the replicators. And that's kind of how I feel about Starfleet Academy.
