Absolutely staggering that Laura thought, 'Hey, my client uses a cane, why don't I show her a property with lots of steep, uneven stairs' - do you guys even pay attention to the people you're looking for? #APlaceInTheSun

I think there might be a case for retiring millions and billions from our vocabulary entirely, and expressing public spending as multiples of a house price.

"The government today committed to spending three streets of terraced housing in Middlesbrough on the NHS to cut waiting lists."

Imagine being an aging nation with a falling birthrate and full of people unwilling to pick fruit, clean offices, be carers, or train as nurses, a population of children who think they're entitled & won't put in the work to skill up.

Imagine being that and hating immigration. Sheer madness.
Its possible to maintain fiscal position while somewhat reducing numbers (via greater selectivity) but Labour government's language about net 205k being too high has not been thought through - just repeating language of net 600k, net 400k, net 340k as it dropped lower, quicker than they anticipated

So unsurprised. Whenever he opened his mouth, it was obvious Gullis was one of the worst.
Two more Conservative MP rejects hop over to Reform UK. Jonathan Gullis and Lia Nici.

More and more, Reform UK looks simply as if the Tories ran off stage, then came back on two minutes lates, wearing a comedy moustache-and-glasses disguise. ~AA

I’d like to point out that the OU girl’s paper would have gotten a failing grade in every one of my many many theology courses at three different schools, and invariably with far harsher commentary from the profs.

Just once I'd like to hear a TV news anchor say, "Sir, that's not true, and if you keep insisting it is, we're going to end this interview to protect our viewers from further disinformation. And we won't invite you back."
HASSETT: Gas prices dropped below $2 a gallon in a lot of places

CORDES: Gas prices on average are still at $3 a galloon

HASSETT: For a few states they got below $2

This is the garbage you get when parents side with their children and threaten teachers rather than letting them face failure and deal with the consequences.

*Everyone needs to fail to learn*

If they don't do the work, they don't get the grade.
Turning Point at OU posted this girl's essay in full and man is it rough

Honestly, given my experience, brown parents like Nazanin's actually loving and fighting for her feels totally foreign.

My parents would 100% have been, 'You definitely did something wrong,' and not done sh*t.

Well, this explains why they were so lazy about freeing Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe - they wanted to be able to do exactly the same: Labour or Tory, democracy doesn't matter.

WTF is this.
Kafka wants a word.

Shockingly, the self-declared leader of global capital and the largest leader of global Christians have drastically differing viewpoints.

Absolutely. I'd forgotten how much I missed Joseph Fiennes, but Narges Rashidi is absolutely amazing. Let's see a lot more of her, please. #Prisoner951

Prisoner 951 on iPlayer is incredible. There was a LOT I didn't know about Nazanin's ordeal but I knew about 5%, it's mind-blowing. And I managed to go up a level in how much I despise Boris Johnson which is impressive tbh.

She should have given Boris Johnson an earful when they met. Honestly, that man needs his karma to find him.

Honestly, every time Nazanin looks shocked when her appeal in front of a bunch of theocratic men fails just gets on my last nerve. C'mon, woman, what did you think was going to happen in a patriarchal theocracy - *whatever flavour of religion it is*?! *stares at America* #Prisoner951

I'm really glad to see someone like Kelly finally saying this. bsky.app/profile/atru...
Mark Kelly: "This president, when he says things like 'third world countries,' what is he really saying? I think what he's saying is he doesn't want brown people in our country. And that's disturbing. It's un-American."
November 30, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Oh, I don't know. I'd rather the research be rigorous and solid, and that researchers be honest enough to say, "We don't know, but here are some questions our findings threw up." 'Right' answer = stealing & shoddy research. The null set is an answer.
Some researchers, like myself, care about knowledge production and finding the "right" answer.

Others care more about getting a publication based on saying that others are wrong rather than engaging in a discussion about what the current state of knowledge is and whether it needs to be corrected.

#Empire is my reminder that the Ninth Circle of Hell includes men like Robert Clive and his whole East India Company.

Also, South Asian nawabs, you were played like a violin.

But following the lines of Empire, you absolutely understand why the UK is collapsing the way it is. Did it to yourself.

Shocking that it's in the WSJ.
Extraordinary WSJ reporting today that unveils the extent to which Trump, Witkoff, Kushner and US business executives are salivating over business deals with Russia while Putin’s forces kidnap Ukranian children and bomb civilians in their apartments.

Me, hearing @davidolusoga.bsky.social in the first episode of #Empire telling us how we almost dodged the bullet of the formation of the United States and the British Empire, and I'm like, let's check out that timeline, please.
