PROGRESS ON THE ALBUM FRONT! I hammered out an arrangement of FFVII Vincent's Theme, The Nightmare Begins. It has a couple of heavy influences, one is the version from FFVII Rebirth where one first meets Vincent. Another is Stravinsky's Firebird, which gave me ideas for enhancing the texture.

PROGRESS ON THE ALBUM FRONT! I hammered out an arrangement of FFVII Vincent's Theme, The Nightmare Begins. It has a couple of heavy influences, one is the version from FFVII Rebirth where one first meets Vincent. Another is Stravinsky's Firebird, which gave me ideas for enhancing the texture.
Third half gallon batch of pickles this year. Our garden absolutely buried us with cucumbers this year, with the early summer being so wet. I like cucumbers, but this was a bit extreme. 😂

One of my goals in the next month is to get this routine fast enough for a YT short. Not quite there yet! All major scales, 126 bpm. Kind of liked the crazy lighting from the window, so decided to go with it.

Have to enjoy a brief moment of pride on a day where I went hard at food prep. Baked a couple of loaves of bread, bruschetta with tomatoes and basil from the garden, Tzatziki with cucumbers and fresh mint from the garden. Looking forward to eating for these next few days! 😊

GEAR LEVEL UP! I just added this lovely AEA R88 and TRP3 preamp to my studio equipment. I’ve now used them for a few small projects, and am in love! The R88 is a fantastic complement to my AKG 414 close mic, and I’m really looking forward to bringing it in for many, many projects going forward!

Well, it’s my birthday, and to mark the occasion, I have a very cool thing to share with you all! My colleagues of the Eikon string quartet and I are working on an album!! We’ll launch a Kickstarter to support the project - booking the studio, engineering and the production process on July 1st!

Barret’s Theme - Bitter Memories, FFVII Rebirth. One of my favorite tracks from Rebirth which is dramatically different than the original. And it works, Rebirth’s exploration of Barret’s story had so much emotional weight, very fitting for the different take on these melodies.
