I feel like if people know they can touch you, they might also know everyone else knows that too, so there are eyes on you (and them) keeping them from crossing lines. Doubly so if they know you're there with a posse.

Not a rave, but I did a scene at a kink convention where I was tied up and pierced and then paraded around the room for people to appreciate, touch, and compliment.
People were really fucking respectful. Like, the context mattered a lot, and also having a "handler" kept it pretty in-control.
