In fact the colorpoint cat may just be sitting on top of her. Two kitten-appropriate gray toy mice, both alike in origin, face each other on a wood background. One on the left is pristine and new, possessing its full stuffing, skin, and inferred optimism. The one on the right is missing half its stuffing, some of its fabric skin, and all of its innate resilience.

Did I ever share pics of our babies? Two survivors of an orphan litter rescued last fall by my vet friend, now sassy kit-teens enjoying the spring weather. Meet Bouba (gray) and Skipper Kiki (sable colorpoint).

We adopted a pair of orphan kittens last weekend and they have been the absolute best counterpoint to doom. It’s hard to scroll too far when there are tiny purrs and warm naps.

I saw neither Alf hog nor silicone rocket, nor did I find any of Earth’s Children, but I did observe plenty of rock-hard spectacle in the Luray Caverns today.
A section of Luray Caverns in Virginia, USA. Warm light brings out the rough textures and variety of brown to beige shades in the millennia-old limestone stalactites and stalagmites. Some have connected into thin columns. The “Dream Lake” section of the Luray Caverns in Virginia, USA. Water pooled on the floor of a limestone cavern is almost perfectly still, with its flat mirroring the stalactites reaching down from the ceiling. The reflection makes two small islands appear as though floating mid-air between real stalactites and their optical-illusion stalagmite partners.
