You will never understand Trump until you fully integrate that he is an abuser. That’s it. He had no other logic or motivation beyond inflicting pain and gaining perceived power (even if that power is clearly temporary or marginal). He is not canny or manipulative. He’s just seeking to hurt.

It's just going to keep getting worse until it all comes crashing down around us. The question will be whether we can accept that we live in a deeply interconnected society and our success and comfort came from collective action and not rugged individualism.
