Just learned that long time U of Colorado scholar of religion (Islamic Studies) Frederick Denny has died. His textbook on Islam was the assigned text when I took "Intro to Islam" as an undergrad in the 90s. His work modeled how to be both rigorous & generous. Condolences to all who knew him. RIP.
