Thank you - nice work in <300 characters :) This seems a core challenge for systems leaders... to discern where to insist on consistency and where to encourage discretion... and how to signal these choices clearly so a compliance mindset doesn't prevail and quash the contextualisation #EduSkyAU

I'd be interested to know more about what Martin and his team are doing differently. Is it about nurturing and celebrating the professional autonomy of educators whilst still providing some guardrails? Have they deliberately let go of control of some things? Or something quite different? #EduSkyAU

A6. Agreed - full funding asap is the first critical enabler. I observe wonderful school leaders spending so much energy and time finding ways to manage despite the funding limitations. This energy could be liberated to innovate and serve a whole generation of kids before 2034. #EduSkyAU

A5. Great question. I feel there'd be value in starting by asking "What is education for?" and really listening to and exploring different answers.. then inviting people to consider what gaps that opens up with what education today achieves, before imagining what else could be possible #EduSkyAU

Perhaps it's difficult for people to fully appreciate what co-design really looks and feels like, and how incredibly effective it is, if they've never had the opportunity to participate in it? #EduSkyAU

A3. I get the sense that 'promoting without mandating' is the cultural challenge. Is that fair? I could be wrong. I sense a desire to 'solve' with 'the solution'... an example of applying technical solutions and expertise (which are necessary but not sufficient) to adaptive challenges. #EduSkyAU

A3. I feel there's a valuable role for evidence & research to inform educators' practices AND a need to honour educators' expertise in discerning and weaving together the evidence-based practices that will work in their context. The challenge is to promote the evidence without mandating it #EduSkyAU

I use the expression 'handrail not handcuff' but I might adopt 'lighthouse not leash' too - thanks Adriano!

A2. For an innovation culture to truly take root, it has to feel safe to experiment and fail without negative consequence. Governments could examine how they might be making it unsafe for schools & educators to fail, and consider how they can encourage safe-to-fail experiments and learning #EduSkyAU

A1. Agreed. And I guess in turn that means cultivating skills and appetite to look out beyond our context, to explore widely and consider possibilities beyond the usual paradigm. (That feels like a lot to ask of school leaders who already have so much important work to do!) #EduSkyAU

A1. Schools that foster adaptive capacity in students, teachers and leaders. This might mean deliberately working together to re-imagine beliefs, roles, identities as well as practices and structures. #EduSkyAU
