Gorgeous weekend camping to charge the batteries for the week ahead 🙌

This book is brilliant btw - when I get a look in!

I’m running 107km this month with @tomgeraghty.bsky.social for #StrideForPalestinians. It hurts, but nothing like what families in Gaza are facing.

Please donate if you can: medicalaidforpalestinians.enthuse.com/pf/jade-garr...
Thank you ❤️🍉

Ah the joy of waiting for a flight after spending much of the day talking about aviation disasters 😅✈️

The “I’m ok, you’re ok” model reminds us that, even in disagreement, we can stay grounded in respect.

Too often, when challenged, we:

⬇️ Push the other person down(“They’re wrong”), or
⬇️ Push ourselves down (“I’ve messed up”).

Neither helps.

"I'm ok, you're ok," can keep us steady in discomfort.

I honestly didn’t think having a child would change me or my life that much. 2.5 years on, nothing is the same. I am humbled 😅😂

Not the easiest week. Toddler barely sleeping (so neither are we!), but…
- Wrote two articles
- Made some overdue website improvements
- Welcomed a new placement student to our Psych Safety team
- Booked my travel to Berlin to deliver a workshop
- Drank some really good coffee
And surviving 😅

So far, January is:
- Walks in the biting wind
- Afternoon cuddles with the toddler
- Reading by the fire
- Tons of work, tons of writing

And this reads like an accidental gratitude list, which I now realise it is 🙏🏼 Think I’m finally learning not to fight this winter thing 🥶❤️

Came across this in James Rebanks’ brilliant book ‘English Pastoral’ and I love it. A good reminder to value the things that help us diversify our skills, increase the range of what we can do and resist the temptation to only “specialise”.

“No person in the world is so privileged as to have access to a “ground truth” against which all other people’s understanding can be proven wrong or inaccurate… Everybody’s perspective is subjective.“

London today delivering workshops and the advantage of rubbish train WiFi is it makes me read an actual book 🙌

Pics from the last few weeks ☃️🌳Forest school has been the absolute best thing for my toddler’s confidence - she’s gone from sitting on my knee the whole time to getting stuck into every activity and telling me to “stand back!” while she helps make the campfire 🔥🥰

Sunrise run - felt like I’d won the day when the clouds broke and this appeared 😍☀️

Today’s parenting fail: Realised half way to nursery my daughter still had her slippers on 😬 Hope your Mondays are going great 😅

Cold, tired run this morning, but the beautiful sunrise made it better. Tips on how to get a 2 year old to sleep through the night welcome 🤪

A little appreciation post for the wonderful people who run our local forest school - it’s the most amazing place for little ones (and their adults) to learn all sorts of skills, get outside and socialise. Plus, they do affordability based pricing for sessions to make it more accessible.

3 lovely things I re-discovered on holiday:
1. Reading fiction
2. Listening to podcasts that have nothing to do with work
3. Mojitos
I love my job so much that it can be all-consuming at times. Nice to remember there are other things in life too 😅

I will never understand people who don’t eat breakfast.

I’ve a bit quiet on here, but it’s been lovely to enjoy some time with family in my favourite city - anyone recognise it? 😍☀️

Doing the Nottingham Six Pack running challenge at the moment - today was my last one, and I’ve enjoyed it but I’m also sooo relieved I’m done 😅🤣 looking forward to running because I actually want to again!

Negative learning experiences do so much damage. I fell out of love with science when I had a pretty awful time doing my physics undergrad degree, but it was amazing going to the Science Museum with my toddler and remembering just how much I loved this stuff. I’m sad I forgot it for so long! 🚀😍🔭🌗

London trip for Fenn’s 2nd Birthday 🥳 Met Paddington, visited the dinosaurs and off to the Science Museum tomorrow 🙌 I’d ask for more recommendations, but we’re already worn out 😅🤣
