Last of the launch illustrations for the Kirkby Unemployment Centre project (for now). This one is about a wood-chip factory that was polluting the local area in the early 2000s (hence the dead fish) - and the protest campaign the KUC coordinated in response.
Illustration showing a group of protestors in protective masks holding dead fish and placards. They are protesting against the factory in the background which is polluting the area. Detail from an illustration showing a man in a gas mask and hi-vis vest holding a placard. He is protesting against a local factory which is polluting the area. Another launch image for the Kirkby Unemployment Centre project. This one depicts a march - protesting against the closure of a local manufacturing plant, which took place on a very wet day in 1994.
Illustration of marching women and children. The children are holding signs, protesting against the closure of a local manufacturing plant. It is raining and some people are holding umbrellas. Detail from an illustration of a protest march. A child in a baseball cap is holding a sign and smiling. There is a woman, man and child also marching in the background. Playing about with a redesign of an old character - those who remember my comics from around eight or nine years ago might recognise him?!?
Rough character design drawing of an anthropomorphic grey dog wearing a green WWII style pilot's hat and goggles.

We'd love to make a whole graphic novel based on Ben's research - publishers out there, let us know if you're interested!
