I was Last Friday years old when I learned that "67" is a meme. This likely explains many of the 600+ likes this post got.

(Seriously though, our students are doing forecasts for 11,000+ hockey fans and I couldn't be more proud 😭)

You can probably guess when I chose to take out the trash

Back in the control room today! It's fun to sit back, press buttons, and work with our broadcast meteorology students as they get their reps in on camera.

Cole just started as a UND Weather Update anchor this semester and is killing it!

Me: Is among the first to pile on with Reviewer #2 jokes and rants about how we should sprinkle more positivity into reviewing science

Also me, reading over a review I just wrote up:

This is what I get for publishing in a public health journal

1 year of faculty life in the books! Definitely not easy to begin with, and this year threw unique challenges out there, but UND has been the perfect home to settle into this. Big things on the way in Year 2.

I'll always appreciate this place for taking the chance on me to be its hurricane guy. 🌀

Bought this pin a few weeks back at a market in Winnipeg. The conversation at the register was succinct:

"I'm an American meteorologist."
"Ooooooooooooooof"

Excited to share a new lead-author paper, now available in final form in Environmental Research! authors.elsevier.com/a/1lOu73Ao6B...

A review article (supplemented by my own data viz) on the science connecting tropical cyclones and *whispers* climate change, plus implications for public health.

Sooooooooooooooooo close

Sooooo proud of our UND Weather Update students (Jonathan, Anson, and Conrad), who presented on their work from 2024-2025 at the @ametsoc.org Broadcast/Digital Meteorology Conference!

They can all say they've presented at a professional conference before their junior year. Rising stars 🤩

Blurry Conference Talk Photo™️ because it's important to max out our chances to get science out there.

The @ametsoc.org Mesoscale and Broadcast/Digital Meteorology Conferences are underway! I'll do my best to collect and share some cool advances and discussion points throughout the week.

1. Choose side of driving range with the wind at my back

2. Convince myself I actually drive the ball 350, book tee time for tomorrow

3. Remember that not all golf holes face north

4. Go home angry

5. Repeat

Testing the theoretical limits of warm air advection rn

Didn't have 100° before finals week on my "first year in North Dakota" bingo card...

Count me in! (With the caveat that I am still a recovering job seeker and half of my time is being spent having these conversations given current events)

Yesterday I learned that our student org's biweekly photo contest theme was... me.

My 3rd talk at #AMS2025: working with the AMS Certified Digital Meteorologists to improve weather broadcasting instruction in the classroom!

Our UND Weather Update will be up to plenty of new, exciting things in 2025 in the digital space.

2:00 PM Monday in the Weather-Ready Nation Symposium!
January 10, 2025 at 4:21 PM
My 2nd talk at #AMS2025 spotlights:

- An AWESOME K-12 outreach program I've been in since 2020
- A group to consider partnering up with on grant proposals
- My feeble attempt at world peace, as a 3x FSU alum including a UF logo

Monday at 9:00 AM in the Education Conference!
January 9, 2025 at 6:19 PM
I'll take a "no context" route to highlight my first talk at #AMS2025, with some of the images you'll see.

My path to a faculty job was honestly quite linear, but it got pretty bumpy at times.

Excited to open up about that experience at the Student Conference Sunday morning.

Dropping this a day earlier than planned because I'm excited... I'M LOOKING FOR A GRAD STUDENT!

Consider joining my new and growing group of sickos doing tropical weather/climate research in the Northern Plains.

Spread the word, and if you'll be at #AMS2025, let's talk!

Appreciating winter's intricate detail this morning in Grand Forks ❄️

Excited for #AMS2025 in less than 1 month!

It will be a busy, front-loaded week with 3 talks, repping North Dakota's graduate program, and the Conference for Early Career Professionals.

I'll be in New Orleans most of the week, and eager to get new connections going in the meantime!
