Ever since UK politics existed there have been plots to undermine the leaders, & I don't see this as any different.
Why is it now 'close to untenable'?
Who else is there?
We need someone competent & he does at least get on with the job.

Yes, I agree with you on the anti-protest law, that simply made the Tory's law even worse. What was Labour thinking?
I think he's got to get on top of the boat crossings though as that's fuelling Reform, & success there would pull the rug from under their feet.

Sorry, but to me, that's nonsense!

Genuine question.

Just like Reform's threat to expel immigrants already in the UK would mean the NHS and prisons will cease to function at all.

That's true. Most people aren't on X & don't know how bad it is.
All MPs should close their X accounts immediately & start interacting with real people instead.
I guess that's why it's always worth writing to your MP, so they have an idea of what their real constituents' concerns are.

I trust she's now working on banning the prescribing of weight-loss drugs to children as young as 9, which is also not 'data-led' as they're so new.
The fact that they may be working for children & improving their lives would be irrelevant by her reckoning, same as cross-sex hormones seem to be.

I like to think it is British. Most people are kind, empathetic, and are intelligent enough to recognise bs when they see it.
Trouble is, we just hear from the other ones that aren't.

I guessed it was the right-wingers on the BBC Board blaming the 'liberal metropolitans' for letting trans people have it too easy!
I heard Nick Robinson this morning use the phrase 'the argument about trans rights', as if the rights of some humans still need arguing about in 2025.

From what I've heard this morning, it's because the Chairman and Board of the BBC are all right-wing appointees & are intent on taking the BBC further to the right.

Therein lies the problem. The Chairman needs replacing with a professional who can demonstrate greater impartiality.
This man's inability to do his job properly has led the BBC into its current mess.

I was confused by listening to views expressed on Radio4 Today, but you've clarified it (I think). Despite the BBC being blatantly right-wing, they're not right-wing enough? I'd have thought it would have been left-wingers celebrating but instead it's Trump, Truss et al.

I agree,
But that's a big 'if'.
We still need to learn a lot more about what really went on. So far it seems to me the right-wingers on the board were unhappy with the BBC's perceived left-wing bias.
Which is a joke because Farage is on every single day.

Not where I live, unfortunately. My town isn't big enough for the local authority to justify the expense. With the 1000 new homes though, maybe it will be soon enough.

That looks fab.
I don't know of anywhere that looks like that.
Our town's roads are far too narrow for separate infrastructure.

I hope this story runs & runs to cause maximum embarrassment for Cycling UK. They should never have got themselves into this situation.
I'd like to see more women withdraw from the award, as in the controversy earlier this year over the Polari Prize. It 's the only way to send a strong message.
