Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

60 years ago today, Queen Elizabeth II arrived in Germany for her first State Visit - only 20 years after the end of World War II.

The 1965 visit became a defining moment for German-British relations. For 11 days, West Germany was swept up in ‘Queen fever’. #QueenInGermany1965

Last week, my son lost his first tooth. Unfortunately he also swallowed it, leaving me with one just option: to get to work forging some government documents.

Will the tooth fairy pay up if the tooth has been swallowed?
As a fan of money, my son has known of the Tooth Fairy for some time, and is now discussing her rates of business – and filling in the correct paperwork

If Margo in the Good Life had been called Hannah, then the cast list would have read: TOM / JERRY / HANNAH /BARBARA and that would have been amazing.
When I was a kid I thought Hanna and Barbera were women. I was so disappointed when I found out
William Hanna and Joseph Barbera working on Tom and Jerry.

Happy a violent dictator is gone, worried about an uncertain future, concerned in the knowledge that authoritarians often replace authoritarians and that power vacuums create serious problems, and hopeful about finally having a possibility of better, all at the same time, is a very human reaction.

Pleased to see the assisted dying bill recieve its second reading this afternoon.
Now the bill will go into committee and those who are concerned about the drafting can submit amendments. It will be interesting to see if critics will engage constructively, or if they will continue to simply oppose.

When botanist Richard Deakin examined Rome’s Colosseum in the 1850s, he found 420 species of plant growing in the ruins: cypresses and ilex, pea plants and more than 50 types of grasses.

But some flowers growing there mystified him. They were so rare they were found nowhere else in Europe.

Piece by Joshua Rozenberg on recent guidance on social media use. He picks up the point that its application to fee paid judges (and non-lawyer tribunal members) looks like quite a serious new restriction on their professional and political activity. open.substack.com/pub/rozenber...
