I wish I realized this fact sooner because im not even halfway done with new vegas and I can already tell you its a top 10, maybe even a top 5 if I'm to buy into the hysteria

I wanted to feel cool in a post apocalypse wasteland, shooting grunts and goons who got in my way after coming off of games like Doom and Dusk. FNV is, in fact, not that game, but what it is is something I like way more

Its important to see art for what purpose it sets out to fulfill instead of trying, and failing, to put a round peg in a square hole and expect it to fit my expectations rather than the expectation of its maker.

I think I've come a long way since then in regards to how I view video games, or any artistic medium. My feelings on New Vegas then vs now are very much the difference between "I chase whatever I like and everything else just isnt for me" vs "I don't get it yet, but I just havent seen it eye to eye"

I would have spent the entire game mad about how the guns feel bad and overencumbrance is annoying and none of the factions are cool (translation: i dont agree with them entirely enough) and I don't get to do enough cool stuff

these are all either non-issues or blatantly wrong

I think 2021 jam was just a little too stupid to really care for the extreme detail and intricate design of the game's space. At best, even if I DID beat the game, I think my only takeaway would be "thank god i dont live in nevada"
