In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

Looked out the window this am, and this is what I saw immediately above where Les placed this tiny encaustic. Guess this November morning is much more promising. I guess I’ll call it Alaska November. (Pics look more alike if full screen- anyone know how to post full images? It’s gotta be simple)

Yes, I like old art too.
Born on this day in 1632, in Delft, the incomparable painter Johannes Vermeer. What he can do here with the color blue! It's miraculous. The mysteries of that window are infinite.

Been a while since I’ve reposted from the great womensartbluesky.blessedly. This one immediately appealed to me. And it’s as old as I am.
In Western arts over time cats could be included in paintings as symbolic of ideas of mystery or female sensuality. Black cats particularly were associated with witches (aka wise women who had skills in healing).

This is what has been horrifying me for the last several days. It’s a military state now - never in my life would I thought this would happen. Trump has his personal army.
